Slow Food Madison
This local group works to bring together people interested in experiencing, celebrating, and preserving our food traditions.

Institutional Food Market Coalition
Connects large volume institutional buyers in the private, public and not-for-profit sectors with local Wisconsin produce auctions and growers.

Family Farm Defenders
The organization works to create a farmer-controlled and consumer-oriented food and fiber system, based upon democratically controlled institutions that empower farmers to speak for and respect themselves in their quest for social and economic justice.

Dane County UW Extension
Dane County UW Extension works to help build a diverse and inclusive community food system that is economically viable, environmentally sound and socially just for all Dane County residents.

Dane County Buy Local
Network and listing of locally- and independently-owned businesses in Dane County.

Community Groundworks
A local group working to regenerate urban areas, cultivate a diverse learning community, and foster healthy communities (formerly Troy Gardens).

Sauk County Food Security Coalition
The Sauk County Food Security Coalition was formed early in 2005 with a mission to link the efforts and resources of diverse organizations to create a local, sustainable food system to ensure healthy, adequate and appropriate food for all people.

REAP Food Group
A non-profit organization located in Madison that is building a regional food system that is healthful, just, and both environmentally and economically sustainable.

Buy Fresh Buy Local Southern WI 
REAP’s farm to restaurant program connects local farmers with restaurants, health care providers, grocery stores, and other food buyers through consulting, resources and events.

FairShare CSA Coalition
We are a coalition of people invested in the vitality and strength of our community. Through education, outreach, community building and resource sharing, we are working to raise the bar on quality and accessibility of CSA shares in our region.

Community Action Coalition for South Central Wisconsin, Inc. 
Community Garden Partnership provides opportunities for diverse groups to share their experiences and knowledge with other gardeners at a variety of community locations while also promoting such things as self-sufficiency, environmental stewardship, creation of healthy civic spaces and donating to food banks.

Crawford Local Food Alliance 
This is a discussion area for a group of consumers and food producers local to the Driftless Region of southwest Wisconsin and surrounding states.

Dane County Food Council 
DCFC is a dynamic citizen committee of the Dane county board that explores issues and develops recommendations to create an economically, socially, and environmentally sustainable local food system for the Dane county region.

Valley Stewardship Network’s Food and Farm Initiative
The Valley Stewardship Network (VSN) is a locally based, funded, and managed non-profit organization comprising neighbors and friends of the Kickapoo Valley. Our primary goal is to promote a balance between a healthy environment and strong communities.

Wisconsin Home Harvest
Based in Sauk County, Wisconsin Home Harvest is a farmers network that coordinates marketing and distribution of agricultural products from transitional and organic farms. Currently, nine farmers supply produce, mushrooms, meat, cheese, eggs and apples to area restaurants, stores, farmers markets and distributors.

Farley Center

Churches Center for Land and People
The Churches’ Center for Land and People is an ecumenical organization that brings together churches, groups and individuals to strengthen rural life and the ministries of faith communities in Wisconsin, Iowa and Illinois. The Center works to integrate earth stewardship, economic justice, community and spirituality around issues related to agriculture and food.

You can also search for producers in the region online. Most farms list in the Southern Wisconsin Farm Fresh Atlas, however, the list is not comprehensive.

All farms listed:

  • are family or cooperatively owned and sell products grown on their farm or produced by their business,
  • operate in a way that protects our region’s land and water resources by reducing the application of synthetic pesticides and fertilizers,
  • provide safe and fair working conditions,
  • and treat animals with care and respect.
