About Amy

Director of healthTIDE (healthTIDE is a network of approximately 3,000 partners from around WI working to support healthier communities in WI)

Currently serves on the Wisconsin Farm to School Advisory Council

Interests / Experience:  I’m super interested in supporting a healthier food system in Wisconsin. I care deeply about figuring out how we can create access to equitable, healthy and affordable food in communities, while making sure producers/farmers are supported economically. It is about supply and demand!
I am a registered dietitian with formal training in public health. I’ve have experience, via collaborative partnerships, to address food-system strategies that support efforts at both the local and state levels. Examples include, youth gardening (Got Dirt?), farm to school and farm to early childhood.

“We are so lucky to live in an agricultural diverse state. Fortunately, we also have a lot of great partners and organizations representing agriculture, health, and food insecurity that care about our local and regional food systems. Which is why being involved in WLFN is so important, because together thru collective action we can create change faster!”

Favorite Food: I absolutely love, love, love fresh Wisconsin berries in the summertime! My family and I pick strawberries, raspberries and blueberries each year. The berries get eaten pretty quickly, which is why I so appreciate that apple season follows right behind berry season. I’m a ‘regular’ at Lapacek’s Orchard (Poynette, WI) in the fall!

Random Fact: I have been licensed to drive a school bus and held a commercial drivers license. It is a long story…anyway, let me know if we all need to go somewhere together!
